OUR NEW CHARITY PARTNER
Apr 17, 2020
We are delighted to announce the Lighthouse Club as our new charity partner.
This is a fantastic organisation which provides financial assistance and mental wellbeing services to people who work in the construction industry and their families.
“As soon as we heard about Lighthouse, we wanted to get involved,” says Paul McDonnell, Joint Managing Director of Crest Plus. “We work with thousands of people in the construction industry so hope that this partnership will support the Lighthouse Club to carry out their vital work, and enable us to signpost our construction contractors to the help and support they need.”
- According to Lighthouse, every working day there are two people in the construction industry who take their own lives.
- Last year there were 30 fatalities on UK building sites.
- Stress, depression or anxiety account for around a fifth of workplace illness.
- Every year there over 2000 major accidents that incapacitate the worker in such a way that they cannot return to work.
Lighthouse offers a 24/7 confidential helpline for construction workers and their families in the UK and Ireland. People can access emergency financial aid, advice on occupational health and mental wellbeing as well as support on legal, tax and debt management matters.
We have made a donation to become an official Corporate Supporter and will fund raise over coming months to support the work of Lighthouse Club. We are also continuing to support our local charity, Claire House Children’s Hospice.
Val Lawton, Joint Managing Director, added: “We hope our partnership with Lighthouse Club will directly benefit the many people we work with in the construction industry through our Umbrella, CIS and freelance payment options.”
