IR35 in the private sector – update

IR35 in the private sector – update

Oct 19, 2018

The Autumn Budget is due to take place on 29th October.  It’s an important date for contractors working in the private sector as it’s when we expect to get clarity on the government’s proposed changes to off-payroll working, commonly known as IR35.

If the changes come into force, it would mean that end clients become responsible for verifying the IR35 status of contractors.  At the moment, IR35 status is the responsibility of each contractor.

When the government made similar changes in the public sector last year, many end clients responded by banning the use of limited company contractors.  If the same happens in the private sector, limited company contractors will need to consider their options.

You can read our article on IR35 changes  which explains the proposed changes in more detail, and outlines the options that are likely to be available to you if the changes come into effect.

We will keep a close eye on what the Chancellor has to say in the Autumn Budget and keep you informed.
